Mindful Dating helped me to further reframe dating so that I am more readily focusing on how I FEEL on the date and whether or not this person is a good match for me. It also was super helpful in terms of a refresh of my old dating profile which I probably had not updated in years!

What You’re Going To Learn

We can’t all be Ricky Martin. A lot of us feel like we missed “Dating 101,” and are missing the necessary skills to meet people without losing our shit. This course is here to accelerate that learning curve, and help you grow gloriously alongside your classmates!

These are some of the situations that we’ll answer together:

  • What tools can I use to figure out what I want from a relationship in the first place?

  • How can I let someone know that I don’t want a second date?

  • Is there a way to make rejection suck less?

  • How can I discern if someone is emotionally available?

  • Where can I meet people who align with my values?

  • How can I stay open and have fun while dating?

I matched with my now husband on Bumble 18 months ago; I liked it better than Hinge & Match.

The dating profile section of this course helped me to write mine authentically and to read through other’s profiles better.

About your facilitator

Hi, I’m Jillian! I’ve been studying the art of human connection since 2016.

It all started when I moved to New York City. I was great at meeting new people… but bad at prioritizing deeper connections. I felt like I was constantly in spaces where "surface level" conversations were the norm.

That’s why I started The Joy List in November 2016, a weekly newsletter of events that you can attend alone and leave with a new friend. Since then, I have helped tens of thousands of people make new friends through my newsletter, my in-person socials, and speeches on stages like Startup Grind and CMX. I also published Un-Lonely Planet in July of 2019.

My work has been recommended by Esther Perel, Priya Parker, the founder of Eventbrite, and more. I have also been featured in The Wall Street Journal, NBC, and NPR.

I am certified through the Coach Training Alliance and have taken multiple trainings to create psychologically safe learning environments. I’ve also taught courses on boundary setting, conflict resolution, everyday spirituality, and making friends.

My mission is to help people understand themselves more deeply— so that they can connect more with others. This course will help you do both of those things. Want to join me?

FAQ

is this open to all genders and sexual identities? What about different relationship styles?

Yes, and I will be teaching from my lens as a straight, cis woman. No getting around that! Yet the course will be designed to help every participant figure out what type of relationship will work for their preferences. I'm totally open to and will acknowledge different relationship structures (poly, casual, monogamish, all that jazz.)

I HAVE A SPECIFIC QUESTION, HOW CAN I ASK IT?

You'll get access to a comprehensive resource document. You can leave a question in the document and I will answer it (give me 2 business days, please). If you attend the course live, you'll get to chat your questions and I’ll fold them into the course if I can.

You also get access to a bonus Q&A to ask your questions.

I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION, CAN I CONTACT YOU?

Sure, send an email along to hey@joylist.nyc.

Ready for some l-o-v-e?

Just identifying the needed boundaries within myself is a gift of this workshop, and THEN to have the tools to communicate them in a loving and direct way is helping me feel empowered and grounded in myself.

I struggle with the need to be liked and I *know* there are people in my life who aren’t worth my time. Jillian offered a powerful model of how I can stick to my guns and coexist with people through difficult situations.

I also felt more engaged than I usually do on Zoom. I really appreciated that Jillian offered stretch breaks, asked for shares from the group, and interacted with us.

This course gave me a sense of community at a challenging time. The sessions were structured in a way that gave lots of time for individual reflection and group sharing in a way that felt safe.

I learned a lot and know that my notes and the resource document will be so helpful to revisit in future.
